जीव, प्रकृति एवं ईश्वर ये तीनों...


शक्ति

जीव, प्रकृति एवं ईश्वर ये तीनों अनादि काल से हैं। जीव ने सर्व प्रथम स्वयं को समझा, उसके पश्चात् उसने अपने पैदा करने वाले को जानने की कोशिश की। शुद्र जीव एक साधक बन गया। साधक से गुरू और गुरू से महा-गुरू बन गया और उसने प्रकृति व ईश्वर के सभी रहस्यों को जाना। सभी रहस्यों को जानकर उसने उन्हें लिपि-बद्ध किया। जब उसने रहस्यों को जाना तो पाया कि प्रकृति अर्थात् शक्ति तथा ईश्वर अर्थात् पुरुष ही मेरे को बनाने व चलाने वाले है। उसने दोनों की आराधना कि और दोनों की साधना के तमाम तरिकों को जाना। उसने पाया कि दोनों प्रकृति-पुरूष कि साधना एक साथ भी कि जा सकती है, तथा अलग-अलग भी कि जा सकती है। इस प्रकार धीरे-धीरे दोनों ही तरिकों से पूजा की जानें लगी। 51 पीठों के बनने से पूर्व शक्ति की उपासना निराकार भाव में होती थी। अनेकों ही साधकों ने शक्ति की उपासना निराकार भाव में की है। राजा दक्ष द्वारा निराकार शक्ति की पूजा करना और उनके घर में सती रुपी शक्ति का जन्म लेना। राजा हिमाचल का शक्ति की उपासना करना और उनके घर में पार्वती नामक शक्ति के रुप में जन्म लेना। मतंग मुनि का तप करना और पुत्री रुप में मातंगी नामक शक्ति का पुत्री रुप में जन्म होना। कात्यायन मुनि का जाप करना और उनके घर में भी कात्यायिनी नामक शक्ति का पुत्री रुप में जन्म लेना।

ध्यान देने वाली बात यह है कि सती, पार्वती, मातंगी और कात्यायिनी एक ही शक्ति का रुप है। किन्तु नाम भेद से अलग-अलग है। कात्यायन मुनि की पुत्री होने की वजह से वह शक्ति कात्यायिनी कहलाई, मतंग मुनि कि पुत्री होने के कारण वह मातंगी कहलाई। ये सब आदि-शक्ति का ही अंश रुप है। किसी भी शक्ति का नाम चाहें जो भी हो, उसके मूल में एक ही शक्ति समाई हुई है। जिसे आप प्रकृति, माया, आदि-शक्ति, परमेश्वरी, शिवा, चण्डी, दुर्गा जो भी चाहें नाम दे सकते है। सही मायने में वह प्रकृति ही है। प्रकृति ही तन्त्र की कुल देवी है। प्रधानतः अधिकतर महर्षियों ने इसे शिवा कहा है। शिवा का अर्थ है- सब का कल्याण करने वाली शक्ति। सम्पूर्ण प्रकृति में जो भी कीट-पतंगे से ले कर उंचे-उंचे पर्वतों तक का निर्माण हुआ है, एवं चाँद-तारे और सूर्य पैदा हुऐ हैं। वह प्रकृति ही इन सब के द्वारा हमारा कल्याण करती है। प्रकृति के मूल में भी शब्द की शक्ति छुपी हुई है। यह शब्द ही हमें परमात्मा तक पहुँचाता है और यह शब्द ही शक्ति का साक्षात्कार कराता है।

अगर आप शब्द का ब्रह्म भाव से जाप करेगें, तो आप को ब्रह्म की प्राप्ति के साथ-साथ उस परमेश्वर की सम्पूर्ण शक्ति की भी प्राप्ति होगी। अगर आवश्यकता है, तो केवल भाव और श्रद्धा की। आपका जैसा भाव और जैसी श्रद्धा होगी आपको उसी के अनुसार फल की प्राप्ति होगी। शब्द के मूल में भी आपका भाव और आपकी श्रद्धा ही काम करेगी। शब्द सर्वोपरि है। शब्द सर्व-शक्तिमान है। शब्द सर्व-व्यापक है।

किन्तु जैसे एक अच्छे बीज के लिऐ उपजाऊ भूमि का होना जरूरी है, उसी प्रकार शब्द के लिऐ मन और बुद्धि का निर्मल होना आवश्यक है। जब तक आपका मन और बुद्धि पवित्र नहीं होंगी, तब तक शब्द चाहे कितना ही शक्तिशाली क्यों न हो, उसकी शक्ति का चमत्कार आप को प्रत्यक्ष रूप से दिखलाई नहीं देगा। जिस प्रकार एक अच्छे बीज को धरती में बोने के लिऐ, एक योग्य किसान एवं उपजाऊ भूमि कि आवश्यकता होती है। उसी प्रकार योग्य किसान के रूप में श्रेष्ठ गुरू, बीज रूप में ॐकार रूपी श्रेष्ठ शब्द एवं उपजाऊ भूमि के रूप में योग्य शिष्य की आवश्यकता है। जब तक ये तीनों कसोटी पर खरे नहीं उतरेंगे, तब तक खेत के अन्दर एक अच्छी फसल की पैदावार नहीं हो सकती। मुस्लिम सम्प्रदाय में मोहम्मद-साहब ने कहा है, कि तुम अल्लाह का ज़िक्र दिल से करो और खूब कसरत करो। कहने का अर्थ यही है, की जिस प्रकार एक पहलवान अपने जिस्म को मजबूत बनाने के लिऐ कसरत करता है। उसी प्रकार आप भी उस परमात्मा के नाम का लगातार जाप करो। जब तक आप के जाप में एकाग्रता नहीं होगी तब तक आपको सिद्धि की प्राप्ति नहीं होगी। उस परमात्मा की बंदगी इतनी करो की लोग तुम्हें पागल समझने लग जाऐं। जिस प्रकार मंजनू, लैला का दीवाना था। उस प्रकार तुम भी उस परमात्मा के दीवाने बन जाओ। दीवानगी की हद को पार करके ही तुम उस शक्ति से साक्षात्कार कर सकोगे।

हम जो भी मंत्र या शब्द जपते है, उसका हमारे जीवन पर और वातावरण पर पूर्ण प्रभाव पड़ता है। जिस भी शब्द का जाप किया जायेगा, उस शब्द से हमारे चारों तरफ सूक्ष्म-तंरगे बनने लगती है। मंत्र जप से उत्पन्न होने वाली सूक्ष्म-तरंगे, ब्रह्माण्ड में प्रवाहित ऊर्जा प्रवाह को खीच कर लाती है। जिस प्रकार तलाब में पत्थर फैंकने पर लहरें उठती है और धीरे-धीरे तालाब के किनारे तक पहुँचती है। उसी प्रकार मंत्र जप में भी चुम्बकिय विचार तरंगे पैदा होती है। यह ब्रह्माण्ड भी एक तालाब की तरह ही है, पर इस की आकृति गोल है। इसलिऐ इसका अन्तिम किनारा वही स्थान होता है जहाँ से ये ध्वनी-तरंगे पैदा होती है। इस तरह शब्द से पैदा होने वाली ऊर्जा-तरंगे धीरे-धीरे बढ़ती चली जाती है और ब्रह्माण्ड की परिक्रमा करके, जप-कर्ता के पास शब्द भेदी बाण की तरह लौट आती हैं। जाप के द्वारा इन तरंगों का प्रभाव हमारी कुन्डलिनी शक्ति पर पड़ता है।

ज्यों-ज्यों हमारी कुन्डलिनी शक्ति पर शब्द की तरंगों का आघात होता चला जायेगा, कुन्डलिनी शक्ति जाग्रत होनी प्रारम्भ हो जायेगी। ज्यों-ज्यों हमारी कुन्डलिनी शक्ति जाग्रत होती चली जायेगी, वैसे-वैसे शब्द शक्ति प्रकट होती चली जायेगी। शब्द की शक्ति को आप चाहे जो भी नाम दे, यह आपकी इच्छा पर निर्भर करता है। रामकृष्ण-परमहंस ने उस शक्ति को काली कहा, वामखेपा ने उसे तारा कहा। नाम चाहे जो भी हो, मायने में तो वह उस परमेश्वर कि शक्ति ही है। अनेकों ही संत ऐसे हुऐ है जिन्होंने उस शक्ति को न मान कर सीधे ही उस ब्रह्म की सेवा की, ऐसे ब्रह्म-ज्ञानियों को जिस शक्ति की प्राप्ति होती है, उसे वह नाद-शक्ति कहते है। जहाँ, शक्ति की अलग से उपासना करने पर, वह शक्ति शब्द भेद से साकार रूप में या यों कहें की स्त्री रूप में प्रकट होती है, वहीं वह शक्ति ब्रह्म-ज्ञानियों के हृदय में नाद रूप में प्रकट होती है। कहने का तात्पर्य यही है कि जो व्यक्ति या जो साधक प्रतीकों से बँधा हुआ है, तो वहाँ पर वह शक्ति प्रतीक रूप में प्रकट होगी। लेकिन जो साधक प्रतीकों से नहीं बंधा हुआ, वहाँ पर वह शक्ति शब्द के रूप में ही प्रकट होती हैं।

हम सब को शक्ति कि उपासना अवश्य करनी चाहिये, क्योंकि जिस प्रकार बिना शक्ति के शिव, शव के समान है उसी प्रकार हम भी बिना शक्ति के शव के समान है। जिस साधक कि जैसी भावना हो, उसी के अनुसार उस शक्ति की उपासना करनी चाहिये। लेकिन यदि साधक शक्ति के रूप में अपनी कुल-देवी या फिर गुरू द्वारा दिये गये शक्ति मंत्र की साधना करता है, तो बहुत जल्द उसका शक्ति से साक्षात्कार होता है, एवं जीवन सभी सुखों से परि-पूर्ण होता है। क्योंकि माना गया है कि शक्ति अपने साधकों का ख्याल एक माँ की तरह रखती है। जैसे एक माँ अपने अबोध बच्चे का पूरा ध्यान रखती हैं, उसी प्रकार शक्ति भी अपने साधकों का पूरा ख्याल रखती हैं और साधक को कभी स्वप्न में दुःख नहीं होता। साधक को जरूरत है तो एक अबोध बच्चा बन कर उस आदि-शक्ति को पुकारने की।

योग क्या है ?
भारत के वैदिक, बौद्ध और जैन मुख्य दर्शन हैं। ये तीनों आत्मा, पुण्य-पाप, परलोक और मोक्ष इन तत्वों को मानते है, इसलिये ये आस्तिक-दर्शन हैं। योग शब्द युज् धातु से बना है। संस्कृत में युज् धातु दो हैं। एक का अर्थ है जोड़ना और दुसरे का है समाधि । इनमें से जोड़ने के अर्थ वाले युज् धातु को योगार्थ में स्वीकार किया है।

मोक्षेण योजनादेव योगो ह्यत्र निरूच्यते।
अर्थात् जिन-जिन साधनों से आत्मा की शुद्धि और मोक्ष का योग होता है, उन सब साधनों को योग कह सकते हैं। पातंजलि-योगदर्शन में योग का लक्षण योगश्चित्तवृत्ति-निरोधः कहा है। मन, वचन, शरीर आदि को संयत करने वाला धर्म-व्यापार ही योग है, क्योंकि यही आत्मा को उसके साध्य मोक्ष के साथ जोड़ता है।

जिस समय मनुष्य सब चिन्ताओं का परित्याग कर देता है, उस समय, उसके मन की उस लय-अवस्था को लय-योग कहते हैं। अर्थात् चित्त की सभी वृत्तियों को रोकने का नाम योग है। वासना और कामना से लिप्त चित को वृत्ति कहा है। इस वृत्ति का प्रवाह जाग्रत , स्वप्न, सुषुप्ति-इन तीनों अवस्थाओं में मनुष्य के हृदय पर प्रवाहित होता रहता है। चित्त सदा-सर्वदा ही अपनी स्वाभाविक अवस्था को पुनः प्राप्त करने के लिये प्रयत्न करता रहता है, किन्तु इन्द्रियाँ उसे बाहर आकर्षित कर लेती हैं। उसको रोकना एवं उसकी बाहर निकलने की प्रवृत्ति को निवृत करके उसे पीछे घुमाकर चिद्-घन पुरूष के पास पहुँचने के पथ में ले जाने का नाम ही योग है। हम अपने हृदयस्थ चैतन्य-घन पुरूष को क्यों नहीं देख पाते? कारण यही है कि हमारा चित्त हिंसा आदि पापों से मैला और आशादि वृत्तियों से आन्दोलित हो रहा है। यम-नियम आदि की साधना से चित्त का मैल छुड़ाकर चित्त वृत्ति को रोकने का नाम योग है।

योग के आठ अंग है। आठ अंगों वाले योग को शास्त्रों में अष्टांगयोग के नाम से जाना जाता है। साधक को उन्हीं आठ अंगों को साधना होता है। साधना का अर्थ है- अभ्यास। योग के आठ अंग इस प्रकार है-यम, नियम, आसन, प्राणायाम, प्रत्याहार, धारणा, ध्यान, समाधि। योग की साधना करना अर्थात् पूर्ण मनुष्य बनकर स्वरूप- ज्ञान प्राप्त करना हो तो योग के इन आठ अंगों की साधना यानि अभ्यास करना चाहिये।

The World, since long, gave much importance to Intelligence Quotient (IQ). In the early 20th century, whenpsychologists devised tests to measure intelligence (used to solve the Logical Problem), named IQ measured based on certain tests to apply logical conclusion to the problems. The higher the figure, the belief went, the greater the intelligence.

Then in mid-1990s, Daniel Goleman discovered the findings in neuroscience and psychology based on importance of Emotional Quotient (EQ) an ability to respond skillfully to pleasure and pain keeping in mind the feelings others and him self. Daniel Goleman argued that EQ is the basic requirement for proper use of IQ and argued that if the areas of our brain that feel the emotions are damaged, the decisive thinking ability will be affected adversely.
Wikipedia definition of Spiritual Quotient:
Spiritual Quotient (SQ) is described as a measure that looks at a person's spiritual intelligence in the same way as intelligence quotient (IQ) looks at cognitive intelligence. It is the study in which there are 6 types of personalities: social, investigative, artistic, realist, contractor and conventional.
Advantages of SQ on wikipedia: Tension Free Life, Self awareness, Free from alcohol and other drugs, Support of society, Less depression, Self Confidence.
So, Spiritual Quotient is study of Social, Investigative, Artistic, realist, contractor and conventional aspect of the personality to assess how balanced a persons is and now a days many authors, scholars claims that spiritual quotient is the ultimate intelligence of a human being and claimed this is intelligence used to solve the problem on values or you may call the persons ability to take value based decision.
In the words of Mr. Ram Mohan, a Vedanta teacher, IQ and EQ are inadequate in such issues. "Spiritual intelligence," is about the growth of a human being. It is about moving on in life. About having a direction in life and being able to heal ourselves of all the resentment we carry.
Humans are essentially spiritual beings, they are evolved to question their own purpose / existence with questions like “Who I am?” Why I was born?” and spiritual quotient is the ability to answer questions like these which leads to personal growth of a person. Spiritual intelligence motivates people to balance their work schedules to spend time with the family or on him to monitor his own activities keeping in view the inner growth rather working to earn money only.
Spiritual Quotient is totally different from IQ and EQIQ solves logical problems. EQ allows us to judge the situation and behave accordingly with balanced emotions, while SQ ask whether this is worth being in that situation before indulging in it. It might motivate us to create a new one situation. SQ has little connection to formal religion. Atheists and humanists may have high SQ while someone actively religious may not as SQ is derived from pure thoughts / emotions.
Zohar and Marshall (2000) created the term spiritual intelligence. The term derived from the latin word ‘Wind or breath’. This is literally a wind that is blowing through us, the principle that makes us alive and humane. Spiritual Intelligence, Zohar (2000) said, “is our access to and use of meaning, vision and value in the way that we think and the decision that we make”. It is the intelligence that makes us whole, that gives us our integrity. It is the soul’s intelligence, the intelligence of deep self, that with which we ask fundamental questions and with which we reframe our answersDanah Zoher and Ian Marshal say “While computers have IQ and animals can have EQ, it is essentially an SQ that sets human beings apart”Zohar and Marshall in their book Spiritual Intelligence—The Ultimate Intelligence, discussed the scientific evidence for Spiritual Quotient.

In 1990s, research by neurophysiologist Michael Persinger and neurologist V.S. Ramachandran at theUniversity of California led to an identification of a 'God-spot' in the human brain. This area is located among neural connections in the temporal lobes of the brain. During scans with positron emission topography, these neural areas light up whenever research subjects are exposed to discussion of spiritual topics. Of course, this is culture specific, with Westerners responding to ideas of 'God' and Buddhists and Hindus responding to certain symbols. A number of socio-epidemiological investigations, both in the Western nations as well as in India (Miller et al, 1976; Line et al, 1979; Billings et al, 1981, Sarason 1981; blzaer, 1982, Broadhard et al, 1982; Ram Chandranand Sarda Menon, 1982, Kushara & Chopra, 1996; Guatam & Pant, 1997) have consistently found the role of various factors like poor social support, isolation be reavement and widow hood, unanticipated retirement, economic deprivation and unemployment, low social class, poor living conditions and stressful life events in precipitate, maintaining or exacerbating depressive disorders among senior citizens. All of these losses may affect self esteem, confidence, connectedness. In such a chain of events, the hopelessness and helplessness of depression may not be far behind.

Where as spiritual intelligence, the capacity to find meaning and purpose in life, understand and nourish our relationship to the Divine define and follow a moral-ethical path and practice loving kindness, can help the aged person to over come from the monotonous & lonely life and despair may replace sense of purpose.

Implications
1. Aged people are distinctly more happy and satisfied by living in the family. Every effort should, therefore, be made to encourage their stay with their families.

2. It is important to begin to defuse the stereotype attitude about ageing process that holds elders back, and to promote the concept of ‘old age’ as a stage of development with its own unique challenges.

3. Spiritual intelligence is an experienced and informed ability that gives us access to immediate knowledge and higher wisdom, and helps us achieve excellence in life. Counseling session should arrange for elderly to develop spiritual intelligence.

So in brief the spiritual intelligence is used to transform ourselves and others, heal relationship, cope with adverse situations, and move beyond already conditioned habits of a person. To develop high SQ, each person needs to approach the task according to his/her personality.
The Great Bhagwat Gita has provided several ways to enable a person to grow his or her spiritual quotient Because Ego is one of the main obstacle standing one’s spiritual progress and advancement. The issues related to Ego have to be handled with maturity by learning to limit it. That is why all our scriptures includingBhagwat Gita have attributed the cause of most of the problems to this one single factor i.e. EGO and thereforeGita says to concentrate on the big “I” rather narrowly concentrating on the small “I” i.e. the human body related things only.
The Great spiritual scholars form India has also suggested to limit our Ego and suggested surrender as one of the ways to limit our ego because when we surrender our ego, there is just tranquility and peace in our interaction / dealing with the world. Once a person surrender to God the quality of goodness arises in him leading him to Godliness and achieving the ultimate spiritual realization. One such exemplary devotee who exhibited complete surrender to the ultimate i.e. Shri Ram was Shri Hanuman ji, who attained godliness by surrendering to God.
So, we need not search here or there so also we have forgotten the fact that we are spiritual beings in a human form. Spiritual Quotient is all about discovering of one’s own inner self.

Spiritual Quotient (SQ) and Spiritual Intelligence (SI) Are Comparatively New Fields
  • Spiritual quotient and spiritual intelligence are not the part of scientific terminologies yet. They may become some day.
  • Clinical definition of SI or SQ is not available. Yet, there is a growing understanding of these two terms (SI and SQ) among many and they believe that these exist.
  • We hear lots of these terms frequently: spiritual intelligence, spiritual quotient, spiritual relation quotient, soul's intelligence, cosmic intelligence, self-actualization etc.
  • Human being's interest ever multiplies in both the directions: the scientific and empirical.
  • It will be interesting to explore this subject of SI and SQ.
Finer Is Stronger
  • We think muscles are powerful because with them we can lift heavy weights.
  • But come to think of it, they are not because it is the tiny thread like structures called neurons that give power to muscles. The moment we disconnect the neurons in the brain from muscles, the muscles just can't function.
  • These neurons actually bring the power from something still finer- thoughts and perhaps, something more fine.
  • So, the greatest power lies in fine and not in coarse.
  • SQ and SI are those finer things.
........ Now It Is SQ
  • All along it was IQ that was thought to be supreme- the cognitive and rational intelligence.
  • Then came the concept of emotional intelligence (EI) and emotional quotient (EQ) some time during mid 1990s. It was thought that our emotions and those of others and how to manage them were as important or even more important. EQ was thought to be the basic requirement for better use of IQ.
  • It is known that if the brain areas with which we feel get damaged, we would think less effectively.
  • And lately, we have added a new dimension to human intelligence- the SQ. It is considered to be the ultimate intelligence.
  • It is believed that it is through SQ that we are in a position to solve the issues related with meaning and value.
  • Some examples of the issues related to meaning and value are the constant search of human beings for answers to the fundamental and ultimate questions like: Why was I born? What is the meaning of my life? Does my work give me the satisfaction I need? Do I relate to myself and to the other people well? What way am I contributing to my and others' happiness? Should I go on even when I am tired or depressed? What makes it all worthwhile?
  • Answers to such questions lead us to happiness and SQ helps to answer these questions better than what IQ and EQ in their separate capacities are capable of.
SQ Defined
  • IQ + EQ = SQ
  • Human beings are different from animals and computers because of SQ. Animals can have EQ and computers can have IQ but they won't have SQ.
  • SQ is all about holistic approach to life: the wholesomeness, self-awareness, compassion, creativity, ability to think, ability to reason out etc; all of this together.
  • SI equips us to look at and solve the problems of meaning and value and then we begin to direct our thoughts, actions and so, our lives towards wider and meaningful horizons.
  • With SI or SQ, we can distinguish more clearly the right from the wrong. It empowers us to compare various life paths.
  • SQ is the foundation on which should lie our IQ and EQ.
  • SI is ultimate intelligence.
Three Psychological Processes
  1. Primary process EQ: based on associative neural wiring in the brain.
  2. Secondary process IQ: based on serial neural wiring in the brain.
  3. Tertiary process SQ: based on third neural system in the brain, the synchronous neural oscillations that unify and integrate the data across the brain. The process facilitates interactions between emotions and logic. Thus it provides a meaning giving center.
SQ Should Not Be Confused With Religion
  • There is no correlation that religious people have to have high SQ or non-religious people have to have low SQ.
  • While conventional religion is set of beliefs, rules and guidelines imposed from external environment, SI (SQ) is the intelligence that rests internally and if used, provides us that wisdom which is beyond any ego and which recognizes the existing values and empowers us with creativity to discover even new values.
Some Early Scientific Evidence
After early 1990s, some research has been carried out by neuropsyhchologists and neurologists. They propagate existence of "God spot" in the human brain. This built-in spiritual center is located among neural connections in the temporal lobes of the brain. Taking scans using positron emission topography, it was found that these neural areas light up whenever the research subjects were drawn to the discussions on spiritual topics. However, "God spot" has nothing to do with proving the existence or non-existence of God.

Spiritual research has shown us that up to 80% of problems in our lives have their root in the spiritual dimension.......

1. Introduction

Spiritual healing is a term known to many. However it means different things to different people. In this article we define what we mean by the phrase spiritual healing and discuss the principles behind how it works.
The entire premise and perspective of this article is based on the purpose of life, one of which is to grow spiritually and help others not merely at worldly level but with the focus to grow spiritually. The more we are aligned to helping a person grow spiritually when we practice spiritual healing, the less we risk being misaligned with the purpose of life and a resultant reduction in our spiritual capability to heal.

2. What is spiritual healing?

Spiritual research has shown us that up to 80% of problems in our lives have their root in the spiritual dimension. We have covered the various aspects of how the spiritual dimension affects our life under the section on Spiritual causes of difficulties.
Spiritual healing is defined as overcoming the spiritual root causes of problems by spiritual means.

2.1 Difference between symptoms displayed and the root cause

It is important to differentiate the symptoms displayed by a person and the basic root cause. We can better understand this by an example.
Let’s say John throws a bucket of water on the floor in Jane’s room when she is not there. He then hides himself to watch Jane’s reaction on her return. When Jane enters the room she searches high and low for the cause but cannot find the reason for the water on the floor. She then goes on to wipe the floor. John lets out an evil chuckle under his breath at Jane’s plight and ignorance about the root cause.
This is a typical analogy of how a spiritual reason such as an attack by a ghost (John) can cause a problem in life such as a heart condition (i.e. the water on the floor). Due to the fact that we do not have the sixth sense vision to see or perceive the ghost, our search for the cause of the chest pain remains limited only to the physical or psychological dimension.

2.2 What does Spiritual healing heal?

We can now appreciate that in cases of heart disease resulting from a spiritual root cause, medical or surgical treatment can only alleviate the consequent damage done by the spiritual root cause. Thus by treating the heart condition by surgery or medicine, medical sciences can at best bring about a symptomatic cure. The condition however reoccurs as the root cause, for example, the ghost is not taken care of.
Spiritual healing is about diagnosis and removal of the spiritual root cause of the problem, that is, the ghost in the above example of heart disease. In our previous example, it is about finding out John and stopping him from throwing anymore water. It could also be used for stopping a potential problem happening in the first place.
Though advanced spiritual healing remedies can also revert the physical damage done, in most cases it is advisable to use physical measures (treatment) to alleviate the physical damage (i.e. the water in our example above). This is because one would have to use a lot of spiritual energy to achieve what can be done with comparatively lower input at a physical level. This is considering that spiritual energy is invaluable and extremely difficult to acquire compared to any physical effort.
It is for this reason that the Spiritual Science Research Foundation (SSRF) emphasises that only the appropriate level of energy be used for treating a problem. So for example, if a person is having eczema due to a spiritual root cause, it needs to be treated at a physical level with medicines and the spiritual root cause needs to be alleviated by spiritual remedies.

3. Basic principle behind spiritual healing

3.1 Principle behind diagnosis

Diagnosis of a problem that has its root cause in the spiritual realm can only be done with one’s sixth sense (ESP). The accuracy of diagnosis can vary considerably and is a function of 2 basic factors:
  • The person’s sixth sense (ESP) ability and spiritual level versus the strength of the affecting entity or ghost (demon, devil, negative energy etc.). Refer to the article on ‘The depth of ability to perceive paranormal activity with our sixth sense’. As a rule of thumb, an average psychic can perceive a ghost from only the subtle-region of the Nether region (Bhuvarlok). A higher ghost from the deeper planes of Hell (Pātāl) would be so subtle as to be able to easily escape notice from an average psychic.
  • Destiny is a powerful factor in deciding how long a person will suffer from a problem. In cases where the person is not doing any spiritual practice and destiny is severe, this itself ensures that the person does not get access to spiritual help to overcome their destiny.
  • Resolve of the guiding Saint of the spiritual healer: If the spiritual healer is acting on the directives of his guiding Saint (a person who is above the 70% spiritual level), then the spiritual healer can heal problems created by higher ghosts even if the healer’s spiritual level is lower than that would otherwise be expected to heal that particular problem. This is because the healing happens largely due to the power of resolve of the guiding Saint.

3.2 Principle behind any type of spiritual healing

The following is the principle behind any type of spiritual healing treatment practised anywhere in the world.

The negative influence of ghosts increases the subtle basic Raja-Tama component and decreases the Sattva component in and around the affected person or object. The ghosts also create a covering of black energy on or in the person. Black energy is spiritual energy used for harmful purposes.
Basically by applying spiritual healing remedies we try to:
  • Decrease the subtle basic Raja-Tama caused by the ghosts
  • Increase the subtle basic Sattva component
  • Try to remove or at least decrease the black energy which is inherently Raja-Tama.

4. Generic types of spiritual healing methods

There are two generic methods of spiritual healing. These are the two choices that apply to all of us who have a problem that has its root cause in the spiritual realm.
  1. Spiritual remedies: This is where either someone else or the affected person himself performs a certain specific act to alleviate a certain problem at a spiritual level. The benefit of this is that rapid relief is brought to the affected person. The downside is that the relief may be just temporary as long as the effect of the remedy lasts. Spiritual remedies include Reiki, Prānic healing, application of Holy ash (Vibhūti), application of Holy water (Thirthā), healing through mantras, etc.
  2. Spiritual practice: When a person does spiritual practice that conforms to the six basic principles of spiritual practice, he builds his own ability to protect himself against harmful elements in the spiritual dimension. If spiritual practice has 100% effectiveness in overcoming problems in life then spiritual remedies only have 40% effectiveness.  (Note: 40% is when remedies are administered externally.) The reason for this is that in the case of spiritual remedies the variables of whether a person can be healed increases as they involve both the healer and the person being healed.
The first method of healing mostly brings about symptomatic cure and sometimes cure of the spiritual root cause while the second brings about cure of the root cause of a spiritual problem.

4.1 What is the preferred method of healing?

The following flowchart will give you a understanding of the preferred method from a spiritual perspective.

  1. Here by spiritual practice we mean the type of spiritual practice that is universal and conforms to the 6 basic principles of spiritual practice.
  2. As one advances in his spiritual growth and begins to help others by conducting lectures in spirituality and serving God by doing service unto the Absolute Truth (satsēvā) one may be targeted by negative energy which try and obstruct one’s spiritual practice. In this case spiritual practice may need to be augmented with spiritual healing by spiritual healers and/or self to hasten relief in case of severe attacks by ghosts.
  3. In some cases negative energy can possess a healer and heal through them. We have covered this point in more detail later in the article.
  4. It is best that we do spiritual practice and augment it from time to time with spiritual remedies that are conducted by oneself.

5. Mechanism behind any spiritual healing

5.1 Classes or Modes of spiritual healing

There are two classes or modes of healing where the mechanism of energy being channelised is different. Healing is brought about through:
  1. Use of an inanimate object such as Holy water or Holy ash.
  2. Through a person
    • Through a person (generally has to be above the 50% spiritual level)
    • Through a Saint i.e. a person above the 70% spiritual level.
Depending on the mode used, the mechanism of action, i.e. how energy is channelised changes.

5.2 Mode of healing and its corresponding method of action

We are going to explain this section in the form of simple analogy of putting on a light. The first step in making a light bulb come on is by turning the appropriate switch on. The electrical current then flows across a wire and the final output is that a bulb begins to glow. Depending on which bulb we want to turn on, the appropriate switch would need to be turned on. So also in spiritual healing, various healing methods bring about various effects. In all cases the final effect of healing (i.e. the glowing bulb or the final output) is orchestrated through the 5 Absolute Cosmic Principles (Panchatattva).

5.2.1 Mechanism of 1st mode of healing: Inanimate objects

The following are a few examples of the types of inanimate objects and the Absolute Cosmic Principle that they effect healing through.

Chaitanya is a Sanskrit word that means Divine consciousness. It is the omniscient and omnipotent power of the God principle. Divine consciousness is more subtle and powerful than the subtle basic Sattva component. Hence when Divine consciousness is introduced thesāttviktā increases.
Note: On a scale of 1 to 100 the Divine Consciousness in any inanimate object is 0 while the maximum Divine Consciousness in an inanimate object is 6 which is the final resting place of a Saint. Refer to the article on who can be considered a Saint.
Here again we follow the basic principle of spiritual healing where just by raising the sattvikta of the affected area, we reduce the capability of the ghost to affect a person. The increased sattvikta then works through any one or a combination of the Absolute Cosmic Principles to bring about the healing process.
The way to read the above table: For example if one uses Holy water on a hand that is affected with eczema that has been caused by a ghost the healing that occurs is by increasing the Divine consciousness of the area by 2%. The healing finally takes place through the Absolute Cosmic Water (Āpa) and Fire (Tēj) Principles.
In our healing section, we have explained in detail how to use each of these spiritual healing tools and also when to use them.

5.2.2 Mechanism of 2nd mode of healing: Through people

 



A. Importance of spiritual level of the healer in treating others
The spiritual level of spiritual healers is the all important aspect which defines:
  • how they are are able to treat/heal others,
  • what healing methods they can use and
  • the types of Universal energies they have access to.
B. Access to energies to heal: Dissolution of the various bodies and the resultant control on the lower bodies (the wire)
We are made up of the physical body (five senses), the vital body (prāṇa-dēha), the mental body (manodēha) or the mind, the intellect or causal body (kāraṇdēha), the subtle-ego or the supracausal body (mahākāraṇdēha). The mind is the seat of emotions and thoughts whereas the intellect is the seat of reasoning or the cause-and-effect relations between events. Each of these bodies is more subtle (intangible) than the other. Therefore the energy of the Mind is more subtle and hence more powerful than the energy of the vital body.
As we grow spiritually through spiritual practice, we begin to dissolve our five senses, mind and intellect. By this we mean that we begin to orient our efforts and thinking towards realising or merging into God. In this process we transcend our individual mind and intellect and thus get in a position of being able to access the Universal Mind and Intellect. In the diagram below, we have shown a spiritual cross-section view of how the soul (ātmā) or the God within us begins to shine with appropriate spiritual practice and we gain more and more divine qualities such as love without expectation for others (prīti), humility, lack of ego, etc.


From a spiritual healer’s perspective something more important begins to happen as our various bodies begin to dissolve. At around the 40% spiritual level the mind begins to dissolve. This is an important milestone because at this point one gets access to sāttvik mind energy. This type of mind energy is spiritual in nature and is not the same as the mind energy of an average person. With this sattvik mind energy, one is able to control the lower bodies such as the vital body and its associated energy i.e. Vital energy (Prāṇa-shakti). At around the 50% spiritual level, the mind has dissolved enough wherein one is able to successfully tap into the Universal Energy of will (Ichhā-shakti) or Desire up to a limit of 20%. This augments the sattvik energy of the mind and can be used for spiritual healing without depleting one’s own reserves.
After one’s mind dissolves completely at around the 60% spiritual level, the intellect begins to dissolve. As the intellect dissolves, one gains access to energy of the intellect and is able to completely control the energy of the mind. At around the 70% spiritual level one is able to tap into the combined Universal Energy of will up to a limit of 40%.  This further enhances the ability to heal a problem that has a spiritual root cause. Finally when the subtle-ego begins to dissolve one gains control of the energy of intellect and at the 90% spiritual level gets access to 70% of all three universal energies.
As long as one is below the 100% spiritual level one has access to the manifest (saguṇ) form of God’s energy. However at the 100% spiritual level, when there is total dissolution of all the bodies, one identifies completely with the soul or the God within. At this point, the energy that a Saint has access to is God’s energy that is unmanifest (nirguṇ). This takes the ability to heal to an unlimited level.
C. Type of healing (the switch)
In the diagram above, we have given examples of various spiritual healing techniques that are commonly used to heal others.
  • Chanting for others is possible only when one is at the minimum spiritual level of 37% and is the easiest way to help another person. The reason why this type of healing can be done before the mind begins to dissolve is that chanting is a form of concentrated prayer where one repeats and contemplates on a particular Name of God. As a result there is a temporary rise in spiritual level which instigates the capacity to access sattvik mind energy.
  • When we pray, we acknowledge our lack of ability to solve a problem. This surrender of the problem also helps in reducing our ego and therefore a temporary rise in spiritual level. As a result, we are able to access energy of the mind which sends energy behind our prayer for others. Hence our prayers to heal others work.
  • Spiritual healing techniques such as Pranic healing and Reiki actually use the energy of the mind augmented by the Universal Energy of Will. This type of healing can only be done by a person around the 50% spiritual level. They do not access any universal Vital energy. Vital energy only exists at an individual level and not at a Universal level. When one has access to energy of the mind one is able to control the Vital energy in the vital body.
    A person who is below the spiritual level of 50% technically cannot heal using these methods. This is because they do not have enough access to Universal energies and nor is there enough dissolution of the mind to generate their own mind energy.
    In case where a person below the spiritual level of 50% is able to do seemingly miraculous cures by Pranic healing or Reiki, invariably it is ghosts healing through them. Ghosts use these healers to affect society. While there may be temporary relief or miraculous cure from a problem, ghosts use the faith people have in the healer to infuse people with black energy and lead people astray.
How does Pranic healing work?
In the case of genuine Pranic healing:
  • 50% of the reason that a Pranic healer is able to heal is because of his spiritual level which results in a substantial dissolution of the mind.
  • The main energy used in Pranic healing is the individual’s energy of mind and the tapping into the Universal Energy of will.
  • Another contributing factor is the intense desire of the Pranic healer to heal. In comparison, a Saint at the 100% spiritual level functions only as per God’s will and has no desire of His own. Due to their intense desire to help others, healers also earn merits.
  • The crystal that Pranic healers use has only 0.001% use in the entire healing process.
  • If the Pranic healers use their healing methods inappropriately (i.e. for fame or money) within some 20 years their energy of mind gets depleted and their spiritual level reduces.

  • Healing done by Saints at the level of Resolve and Presence is only done as per God’s will. As the dissolution of the various bodies has happened to a great extent in a Saint, He is able to understand God’s thoughts and hence act accordingly.

5.3 To what percentage can these three modes heal in relation to a person’s destiny?

Depending on a person’s destiny a person experiences varying amounts of happiness and sadness in life. As we have mentioned earlier, a sure way to overcome destiny or at least be insulated from the pain it can cause is by practising Spirituality according to the six basic principles of spiritual practice.
The following chart gives a breakdown of the intensity of problems that people face in life and how the three modes of healing can help in alleviating the problem.

How to read the chart:
60% of the world’s population is undergoing medium type problems. In intensity a medium problem is defined as when there is 40% distress (100 being the maximum which results in untimely death). Medium problems range from major financial problems, inability to have children, marital problem etc. These problems can be because of just destiny or an ancestor troubling us. If someone were to have a bad case of eczema caused due to an ancestor and it was a medium problem, then in only 10% of the cases could the healing be done through an inanimate object.

5.4 What is the catalyst to channelise these spiritual energies?

The main deciding factor as to whether a person has the ability to heal is based on the amount of spiritual practice they have done and their corresponding spiritual level. This spiritual practice can either be of this lifetime or a previous lifetime.
The healer’s desire to heal is a secondary factor that helps hone a spiritual healer’s ability to heal.

6. Who should we heal and when should we heal?

At the outset we need to understand two important principles:
  • The best type of spiritual healing is when a person does spiritual practice for himself. In this way, one builds up one's own spiritual reserves so that he is less prone to attack from the spiritual dimension. Doing regular spiritual practice is also far more sustainable as a protective measure than being spiritually healed using some form of spiritual healing. As much as possible, spiritual healers need to encourage people to begin and be regular with their spiritual practice, even if they continue to come for healing. Spiritual practice complements the spiritual healer's efforts in removing the problem.
  • In our article on the purpose of life we mentioned that spiritual growth to realise God is our main purpose in life. Accordingly if all our actions, spiritual healing or otherwise are aligned to assist ourselves and others to progress spiritually we benefit maximally.
Given the above, spiritual healers' time and energy is best spent when they help other people to overcome any spiritual obstacles that are inhibiting them from practising Spirituality. In this way they are helping people grow spiritually. From a purely spiritual perspective, it is best that one does not use spiritual healing energy on people that have no intention of starting spiritual practice. The reason for this is that unless a person does spiritual practice to augment the spiritual healing, it at best brings about temporary relief as the affecting entity can cause harm in other areas of life or the person can be affected repeatedly by other entities. Spiritual healers have access to Universal energy appropriate to their spiritual level. Along with this comes a responsibility to help people to grow spiritually which is being in alignment with our purpose of life. If this is not the case a spiritual healer begins to stagnate and invariably deteriorates in his spiritual level and can potentially be used by ghosts.  
It is advisable not to get emotionally carried away healing people just for the sake of healing. If it is in a person’s destiny to go through a certain amount of suffering then all we do is alleviate it temporarily. But the person still has to go through the required quota of suffering. Instead, it would be spiritually more correct if our intention was to heal a person so he gets the faith that the spiritual dimension does exist and this in turn inspires him to begin his spiritual practice.
In one of the lectures on Pranic healing that one of our members attended there was an example quoted of how a person gained extra mileage from his truck by doing Pranic healing on the petrol tank. To bring about some worldly desire such as extra mileage is an example of an inappropriate use of spiritual healing remedies.
The following flow chart shows the choices that one has as one begins to get access to more and more spiritual energy.


6.1 When should one assist another person by the application of spiritual remedies?

As seekers of God do spiritual practice sometimes they are attacked by higher level ghosts to obstruct their spiritual practice. Here their spiritual energy may not be sufficient to repel this attack. It becomes necessary to augment these seekers' spiritual energy with spiritual healing remedies in the following situations.
  • When the disturbance is too severe and urgent intervention is called for.
  • When they are too weak mentally or spiritually to be able to heal ourselves.
  • When the person is physically unable to do remedies like when he becomes unconscious etc.
  • When a person is not well versed in a certain remedy.

7. In summary

  • Spiritual healing is practised by many people worldwide. Only by understanding the principles and the spiritual perspective on ‘who’ and ‘when’ to heal can we be sure to be in alignment with the purpose of life.The best spiritual healing gift that one can give others is assisting them in beginning their spiritual practice so that they can help themselves. This is akin to giving a person a fishing rod and making him independent as opposed to spoon-feeding him and giving him a fish.
